1989 Suzuki Swift GTi valve cover torquing

I’m working on my 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi, and I need some help with the valve cover torquing sequence. I want to make sure I do it right, but I haven’t been able to track down a diagram or proper order anywhere.

Does anyone have the correct torque sequence and specs? Any advice or a reference would be super helpful.

I haven’t been able to find an exact diagram, but the torque spec for the valve cover bolts on your Swift GTi is around 3 to 3.5 ft-lbs (36 to 42 in-lbs). Best practice is to tighten them in a crisscross pattern, starting from the center and working outward to keep even pressure on the gasket. Over-tightening can cause leaks or damage, so definitely use a torque wrench. I really hope this helps you.

Torquing that valve cover is important you don't want any leaks or damage. Those diagrams can be hard to find but for your engine go from the middle bolts outwards in a crisscross pattern. Torque should be around 7-10 ft-lbs, but check your manual if you have it. If not try a Suzuki or classic car forum for help. Good luck and keep that Swift running!
