Improving Ride Comfort in the Suzuki Swift Hybrid

I have a Suzuki Swift Hybrid automatic with 6,000 miles on the clock, and I’ve been noticing the rear suspension feels quite stiff, I’m feeling every bump and pothole on the road. Initially, I checked the tire pressures, and they were all at 36 PSI. I adjusted them to 36 PSI at the front and 32 PSI at the rear, as per the handbook, and it’s helped slightly.

On another note, the manual suggests rotating the tires at this mileage. I’m thinking about doing it to extend the lifespan of the tires, but I’m curious if anyone has done this and noticed a significant difference in wear or ride comfort? Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on the suspension feel and tire rotation timing!

The Swift Hybrid does have a firmer rear suspension, so feeling bumps more is pretty common.
Lowering the rear tire pressure to 32 PSI should help a bit, though.
Rotating the tires at 6,000 miles is a good idea to keep wear even.
If the stiffness is still bothering you, some owners swap the rear shocks for a softer ride, but tire rotation should help too!

Have you considered adjusting the suspension settings or checking if there’s any issue with the shocks? Could it be a setup issue rather than just tire pressure?

Take it to a suspension shop and let them have a look. I doubt it’s just the tires, could be an alignment issue, maybe your shocks, or honestly, could be a bunch of things.

New tires with the right pressure can definitely help, but if the ride’s still hard, replacing the OEM shocks with something more advanced might make a bigger difference. Rotating the tires is a good idea for better longevity too!

Have you fixed this @Hawke_Dragon ? Suspension system is smooths out the bumps on the road. So if you start to feel every bump on the road, it's a clear sign that there is a problem with your shock absorbers or struts, and that needs to be checked. An easy check is the bounce test. But you have to get it checked.

The Swift Hybrid is definitely on the firmer side, but tire choice and pressure adjustments make a big difference. If you’re still feeling every bump, consider switching to a tire with a softer sidewall like Michelin Primacy 4 or Bridgestone Turanza when it’s time for a replacement. Also, tire rotation is worth doing now, I waited too long and my rear tires had uneven wear, making the ride worse.
